Institute for German as a Foreign Language

The Institut für Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) [German as a Foreign Language] of the LMU offers German and international students independent linguistic and literary BA and MA degree programs as well as doctoral opportunities. The Institute also participates in interdisciplinary degree programs.

In research and teaching this academic discipline incorporates the complete philological spectrum including the particularities of language usage in literature. The German language and literature are interesting from both the perspective of multilingualism and the teaching of language and literature as well as in their connection to fields of cultural and intercultural phenomena.
