Form and Use of German in Middle and Eastern Europe

In this project, the linguistic situation of German in the former German-speaking territories and linguistic enclaves in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine and Russia was explored. In addition, the sociolinguistic situation as well as linguistic data (regional variety, language contact, code-switching) were described. They are documented in approximately forty speaker interviews per study region that were collected and analyzed under the direction of C. M. Riehl.
