Language and Regional Identity (Using the Example of Regional Varieties of the German Language)

In this project, which was conducted within the framework of the Special Research Project (Sonderforschungsbereich, SFB) Identitäten und Alteritäten [Identities and Alterities] at the University of Freiburg, attitudes toward language and stereotypes of speakers with regard to regional varieties and dialects were explored. For this purpose, extensive narrative interviews with speakers of regional varieties in different regions of Germany were conducted and discursively analyzed.
